Have a strong draft

    Put on your general manager's hat and start preparing for your draft.  It's never to early to start preparing.  Every day of the year I've prepared for my next draft.  I get a feel for players that are on the rise or the players that seem to be struggling.  Decide which players went to a better situation during free agency or have worsened themselves when the NFL draft comes in April.  You need to figure in also who may be Rookie of the Year and try to get him at a bargain pick when you draft your team.

            When June comes you have to become a sponge and start collecting as much information as you can.  Think about it as you are entering fantasy football training camp.  You have to reshape your skills all over again and start to put your game face on.  Players are constantly moving around on each team's depth charts all year round.  This is a good time to log onto the Golden Boy's website (www.fantasyfootballgoldenboy.com) because it is always one step ahead and always updated.

            When I'm preparing I leave no stone unturned.  I buy all the pro football magazines including all fantasy football magazines, watch all the sports news possible, listen to all sport talk radio shows and then I feel I have an overall feel for what is happening in the NFL.  Another task I perform each year is a paper that I work on called the Golden Boy draft list.  This consists of players that I work on all season long and bring them together with a mathematical equation that constitutes my top 200 players.  When finished after weeks of preparing I feel as though I've accomplished "A Beautiful Mind". 

            One year this list had Rich Gannon (the year he went to Oakland) at #40 and I  questioned this spot.  I then spoke to someone in my league who stated I made a mistake somewhere.  That year he won the offensive most valuable player award in the national football league.  Another year this list had Tony Gonzalez ranked high before he even became a dominate tight end.  I picked him up and won the Fantasy Football Super Bowl.  It's gotten to the point I don't second guess the list anymore.
